A postman named Şinasi Kozan in Gaziantep defrauded those around him of 600 million lira.
Şinasi Kozan's wife, H.K., went to a real estate agent and said that her husband was having phone conversations with someone and that there was no company involved, claiming that her husband had defrauded everyone. Upon this, the real estate agent and the victimized citizens took action, and when they pressured Kozan, he said, "There is a mansion in Istanbul, I will sell it and give you your money."
THE MANSION HE SAID HE WOULD "SELL" TURNED OUT TO BELONG TO SOMEONE ELSE
When they went to Istanbul with 15-20 people and learned that the mansion shown to them belonged to someone else, Kozan fled and disappeared. After the incident became known, the victims began to file complaints one after another.
270 YEARS OF PRISON SENTENCE SOUGHT
According to a report by Sabah; the first hearing of the case was held at the Gaziantep 6th High Criminal Court. Six defendants, excluding the fugitive Şinasi Kozan, attended the hearing. The defendants who were real estate agents claimed that they were only intermediaries for the title transfer transactions and blamed Kozan. A prison sentence of up to 270 years is sought for Kozan and the six defendants for qualified fraud.
THE LOSS OF HIS BUSINESS PARTNER IS 20 MILLION LIRA
Ertan Kılıç, Şinasi's business partner and one of the biggest victims of the incident, said, "I trusted Şinasi and gave him cash, a house, a car, whatever I had. He also took from my father and siblings. My loss in this incident is around 20 million lira."
The court panel, which listened to the parties, postponed the hearing to issue a letter rogatory for the capture of Şinasi Kozan, who is still at large, to request the case files from the criminal courts regarding the precautionary measures to be placed on the properties transferred to third parties, and to hear the missing witnesses.
