With the new legislative proposals brought to the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, it is aimed to include many occupational groups, including pilots, doctors, engineers, and teachers, within the scope of the green passport, subject to seniority requirements of between 5 and 15 years.

While demands to expand the right to a special-stamped passport in Turkey continue to be on the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), bills prepared for many professional groups, from pilots to doctors and from engineers to private school teachers, have been submitted to parliament.

Bills submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) with the demand to expand the scope of the special-stamped (green) passport cover a broad range of professionals such as pilots, healthcare workers, engineers, certified public accountants, mukhtars, and teachers. The prepared proposals envisage actual working conditions of 5, 10, and 15 years depending on the professional group.

5-YEAR REQUIREMENT FOR PILOTS, 15-YEAR REQUIREMENT FOR HEALTHCARE WORKERS

In the proposal submitted to parliament, it is envisaged that people who have actually served in flight service for at least 5 years after obtaining a pilot's license be given a green passport. In the healthcare field, it is requested that physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and self-employed pharmacists who have actually worked in the public or private sector for at least 15 years be included in the scope. If the regulation becomes law, private-sector healthcare workers who meet the seniority requirement will also be able to benefit from this right.

ENGINEERS, ARCHITECTS, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS, AND MUKHTARS ARE ALSO ON THE LIST

For professionals registered with the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), professional seniority requirements of 10 or 15 years have been brought to the agenda. In the other proposals submitted, it is aimed that, in addition to village and neighborhood mukhtars, sworn-in certified public accountants and independent accountant and financial advisors with at least 15 years of seniority be able to obtain a green passport.

FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL TEACHERS...

It has also been proposed that teachers who actually work in official and private educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and who have completed at least 10 years of service be given a special-stamped passport. If accepted, private school teachers will benefit from this right for the first time.

THE REGULATIONS HAVE NOT YET BECOME LAW

The proposals covering pilots, healthcare workers, engineers, architects, mukhtars, certified public accountants, and private school teachers have not yet entered into force. For the regulations to become law, the approval processes in the TBMM committees and the General Assembly are expected to be completed.
