New developments have occurred regarding Erbil and Ortaç, who received house arrest sentences. The indictment against the suspects, including Serdar Ortaç and Mehmet Ali Erbil, has been completed. The prosecutor's office requested that Erbil and Ortaç be punished at the upper limit.

3 YEARS OF PRISON SENTENCE REQUESTED

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç stated on his social media account regarding the issue, "An indictment has been prepared against Mehmet Ali Erbil and Serdar Ortaç, who are suspects of illegal gambling advertising and promotion conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In the indictment submitted to the court, it was requested that both suspects be punished at the upper limit, that is, 3 years each. The processes for preparing indictments against other social media influencers are ongoing."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued detention orders for 23 suspects, including social media influencers and some famous names, in the investigation regarding the allegation of promoting illegal gambling.

Among the suspects alleged to have been involved in illegal gambling advertisements were singer Serdar Ortaç, presenter Mehmet Ali Erbil, former football player Batuhan Karadeniz, social media influencers İbrahim Yılmaz, Muzaffer Zorbey Erkoçlar, Sefa Caner Sarıçam, and Russian and Turkish citizen Aleksander Mensikof.

In an operation carried out by the Istanbul Police Department, 16 of the suspects, including Mehmet Ali Erbil and Serdar Ortaç, were detained. The court, which ruled for the arrest of 12 suspects, including Sefa Caner Sarıçam, Esma Sözen, Muzaffer Zorbey Erkoçkar, and İbrahim Yılmaz, decided to release two suspects, one of whom is under 18, under judicial control. It was learned that 5 of the suspects were abroad, and efforts were ongoing to locate the other 2 suspects.
