RTÜK, which ensures that the media's anti-Islam sentiment, especially prevalent in the West, is discussed, is addressing the issue with the extensive views of experts operating in the international arena and presenting solutions to the public." he said.

RTÜK EMPHASIZES NATIONAL VALUES

Şahin drew attention to the fact that RTÜK will not ignore broadcasts that encourage and promote violence. He stated that RTÜK will never allow illegal advertisements in any broadcasts or sports competitions, and added: "RTÜK does not allow broadcasts that threaten our national security, contain terrorism and terrorist propaganda, and cannot ignore broadcasting organizations that do not comply with the broadcasting bans imposed by our independent courts. In broadcasts, especially in series referred to as dramatic productions, it does not allow scenes against Islam, the religion of peace, or content that belittles our religious community and disrespects our religious leaders. The Radio and Television Supreme Council does not allow statements that will harm our values that make us who we are as a nation and that will disrupt our unity and solidarity, and does not permit images in this vein. Şahin stated that even during the broadcasting phase of series trailers containing anti-Islamic and conservative content, necessary warning measures have been taken in accordance with the procedure, paying maximum attention to censorship claims, and warned, "Necessary legal sanctions have been imposed on broadcasting organizations that do not heed constructive warnings, just as they were yesterday, and will continue to be imposed."

"VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN CANNOT BE APPROVED"

Şahin conveyed that they cannot approve or allow any broadcasts that encourage social violence, especially against women and children, and continued: "Our Supreme Council has imposed sanctions 119 times on broadcasts that undermine our national and spiritual values in recent times. Sanctions have been imposed 18 times on content containing violence and 14 times on broadcasts containing terrorist propaganda. A total of 69 different sanction decisions have been made for violating the provisions of Articles 8, a, b, and c of Law No. 6112. It should be known that RTÜK is not a censorship institution. Our Constitution explicitly prohibits censorship. RTÜK monitors media service providers after broadcasts and imposes penalties when necessary.
