SGK Chief Specialist İsa Karakaş, explaining his forecast regarding the 2027 minimum wage increase, calculated that an increase of at least 30 percent would be made and that, with this rate, the net minimum wage would rise to 36,497 TL and the lowest pension would rise to 30,608 TL.

While the Minimum Wage Determination Commission is expected to convene in December to set the new minimum wage that will apply in 2027, a striking assessment regarding the raise rates that the public is focused on has come from SGK Chief Expert İsa Karakaş.

MINIMUM WAGE COULD BE 36,497 TL

Stating his expectation for the minimum wage, which is currently applied as a net 28,075 TL, SGK Chief Expert İsa Karakaş predicted an increase of at least 30 percent. According to the news on TGRT Haber, if Karakaş's 30 percent raise estimate materializes, the net minimum wage for 2027 will rise to 36,497 TL.

“NOT ENOUGH TO IMPROVE LIVING CONDITIONS”

Arguing that this projected increase will be insufficient to meet employees' living standards, Karakaş drew attention to the high cost of living under current conditions. Emphasizing that the monthly living cost of a single employee is approximately 49,000 TL under today's conditions, Karakaş stated that this amount will rise to at least 55,000 TL next February.

HE ALSO CALCULATED FOR THE LOWEST PENSION

In his statement, İsa Karakaş also touched upon the expectation of an increase in pensions, recalling that the lowest pension, currently 23,552 TL, corresponds to approximately 84 percent of the current minimum wage. Pointing out that this ratio should be maintained, Karakaş stated that if the same balance is observed, the lowest pension should be raised to 30,608 TL.
