AHMET ÖZER WAS ARRESTED FOR TERRORISM
Esenyurt Mayor Özer was detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau aimed at identifying the members and activities of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK. It was determined that Özer had numerous contacts with members of the PKK terrorist organization over a 10-year period. It was established that he had met with PKK terrorists 694 times and had contacted Kongra-gel co-chair Remzi Kartal 14 times. Following the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained and gave a statement at the prosecutor's office after his procedures at the police station. After the procedures at the prosecutor's office, he was referred to the magistrate's court with a request for arrest on the grounds of being a member of the illegal armed terrorist organization PKK. Özer was arrested by the magistrate's court on the charge of 'being a member of an armed terrorist organization' and sent to prison.
