Soldiers in the South American country of Bolivia have taken action. It has been announced that a group of soldiers attempted a coup. President Lucho Arce stated, "We condemn the irregular mobilization carried out by certain units of the Bolivian Army. Respect for democracy must be shown."

SIEGED THE GOVERNMENT PALACE WITH HEAVY WEAPONS

Armed soldiers and armored vehicles gathered in Plaza Murillo, where government buildings are located in La Paz, the administrative capital of the country. A team affiliated with the armed forces besieged the government palace.

"A COUP IS TAKING PLACE"

In November 2019, a US-backed coup took place in Bolivia, and the then-president Evo Morales was forced to leave the country. Morales made posts on his social media account regarding the latest developments in the country. Sharing a video of military mobilization in his first message, Morales said, "A coup is taking place."

SNIPERS PLACED AROUND THE SQUARE

In another message, the former president stated that the unit that captured Murillo Square placed snipers around the square, stating that this is a sign of a coup attempt.

"A NEW CABINET OF MINISTERS WILL BE FORMED"

According to local news reports, tanks and hooded soldiers evacuated civilians in Plaza Murillo Square in the capital and cordoned off the area. The reports claimed that senior commanders of the Bolivian army threatened to take over the government. In news shared on social media, it was stated that military units were deployed around the General Staff Headquarters. General Juan Jose Zuniga said, "A new cabinet of ministers will be formed, of course, some things will change, but our country cannot continue like this anymore."

"I ORDER ALL SOLDIERS TO RETURN TO THEIR UNITS"

Jose Wilson Sanchez, the newly appointed Commander of the Bolivian army, stated: "I order all soldiers and personnel on the street and in the square to return to their units."
