In the betting investigation that has shaken Turkey, 27 more football players have been referred to the PFDK (Disciplinary Board). Among the names sent for disciplinary action, the inclusion of Burak Tolunay Sekin, the son of martyr police officer Fethi Sekin, is noteworthy. A response from the prosecutor's office is awaited for 20 football players as part of the investigation.
The Turkish Football Federation's Legal Consultancy announced the new referral list within the scope of the ongoing betting investigation. Following the referral of 1024 football players to the PFDK in November, it was decided to refer 27 names among the 47 players, who were found to have only one betting activity detected and are still under investigation, to disciplinary action with precautionary measures.
WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE FOR 20 PLAYERS
The TFF announced that a response is awaited from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the remaining 20 players. It was stated that the disciplinary processes would be completed in line with the response from the prosecutor's office.
BURAK TOLUNAY SEKİN'S NAME IS ALSO MENTIONED
One of the names on the new list of the betting investigation is Burak Tolunay Sekin, the son of the heroic police officer Fethi Sekin, who was martyred in a terrorist attack. The referral decision of the young player, who plays for Menemen FK, drew public attention.
STATEMENT FROM TFF
In a statement made on the TFF's website regarding the issue, it was stated, "In the scope of the betting investigation conducted by the Turkish Football Federation regarding professional leagues, it has been decided to refer 27 of the 47 players, whose investigations have been completed and who were found to have only one betting activity, to the PFDK with precautionary measures starting from 09.12.2025, in accordance with Article 57 of the Football Disciplinary Regulation, apart from the 1024 players referred to the PFDK on 10.11.2025. A response is awaited from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the 20 players under investigation, and the disciplinary referral process will be completed in line with the forthcoming responses."
