Turkey once again mourned with the revelation that 2-year-old Sıla baby was sexually abused following Narin. It was revealed that Sıla's real father did not accept her and lived unaware of his child in another city. Tekirdağ Bar Association President Egemen Gürcün, who provided information about Sıla's health condition, said, "Our child's health condition is currently continuing as bad and stable. Unfortunately, since the effects of the brain hemorrhage occurred in multiple places, when the brain hemorrhage occurred in multiple places, our baby faced a serious trauma. Tekirdağ Bar Association President Egemen Gürcün provided information about the work they carried out as the bar association regarding the investigation of 2-year-old Sıla baby, who was subjected to violence and sexual abuse in Malkara district, in a press conference. Gürcün reminded that there is a confidentiality decision in the file and stated that he wants to explain the important issues they find necessary to share, provided that they comply with this situation, saying, "We have always said that the public opinion in Tekirdağ should be at ease. An effective investigation was conducted and this investigation really took place in a multifaceted manner, and confessions were obtained from the prosecution before the reports arrived, and the crimes in the crime were substantiated. In addition, the situation will be certified with the ATK reports. In such an important situation, it is necessary for the public opinion not to remain silent and to know that an effective investigation is being conducted in this process. In this sense, as Tekirdağ Bar Association, we want the correct conduct of this process to be known once again. On this occasion, we congratulate the investigating authorities, as well as our police department and the hospital management, who are eagerly working for the health of our baby. Hopefully, our baby Sıla will recover. I just had a meeting with our chief physician before entering the meeting and received the latest information about her health condition. Our child's health condition is currently continuing as bad and stable. We want to share some information that we can express in this way. In the neighborhood where the discovery was made today, a study was conducted regarding the formation of the incident. We know that there were other children in the house when the sexual abuse occurred and an elderly grandmother was present. Unfortunately, we learn that the two suspects, two children who were dragged into two crimes, closed the door and carried out these heinous acts on our child. The prosecution has seized all digital data. These are being examined. In addition, additional investigations will be carried out regarding whatever evidence and suspicion of crime is kept there, as we share with you as information we obtained from the investigating authorities."

"THE MOTHER WAS RELEASED FROM PRISON 2 MONTHS AGO, BIOLOGICAL FATHER DID NOT ACCEPT SILA"

President Gürcün, stating that Sıla had multiple brain hemorrhages, said, "This also appears as an aggravating factor in the situation. In terms of the mother figure, if we need to mention a little bit; the mother is a person who was released from prison about 2-2.5 months ago, she was detained and arrested on charges of using or selling drugs. During the time she was arrested, her children were taken care of by their aunts. However, she took her children back as soon as she was released. And she made temporary accommodation in the house opposite the house where the suspects lived. During this time, she left her child in the neighbor's house. This is how the incident occurred. It should be stated that when the incident first came to light, it was referred to as stepfather sexual abuse. However, we know that both adult suspects are not a father or stepfather in this sense. Here, Bakiye Hanım is currently married, but she has not been in contact with the person she has been married to for 4-5 years. Also, the biological father of the child does not live in Malkara, he lives in another city. He also does not accept his child. In short, we are talking about an incident that has come about knowingly."

"THERE ARE BITE MARKS ON HER BODY"

Gürcün, who said that there are bite marks on the baby's body, said, "The information you obtained from our discussions about the bite mark confirms the presence of the bite mark. In this sense, it is not possible for us to say how many there are numerically. However, there are bite marks and samples were sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine which of the suspects' jaw structures they match. There hasn't been a response yet. At this stage, the investigation is ongoing, we can say. As Tekirdağ Bar Association, we have mobilized all our resources to carry out an effective investigation and have taken this file under our supervision. We want it to be known that we will follow this process to the end, whether it is our child rights commission president and its management, or our board members. Unfortunately, as soon as such incidents occur in our society and on social media, the first thing written is 'we want the death penalty'."

"HE DID NOT TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL"

Gürcün stated that she has no information about whether the follow-up regarding the children has been done after Bakiye Yeniçeri was released from prison and said, "These will of course be revealed over time. In other words, we are not talking about a classic mother here. She leaves her child in the same place again, even though she knows that her child has fallen and been harmed. She sees the evidence and tries to cover it up. She tries to hide it. She does not provide information to the investigating authority. Not only does she not provide information, but she also causes her child not to wake up by not taking her to the hospital even though she had a brain hemorrhage, and finally brings her to the hospital. In fact, there is negligence here. In fact, she does not have the competence. If it is determined that the state cannot fulfill its obligation to take care of a child, then this child should be placed under protection. If you pay attention, what did I say at the beginning? When the prosecutor came with a complaint about the child falling, he immediately wrote letters about taking the child under protection without any further cases of abuse. In that sense, the investigating authority is doing what is necessary, but did the ministry officials, as an inspection authority, do anything before that? We do not know that yet. That issue will be evaluated in the later stages," she said.

"THERE IS NO SITUATION REFLECTED IN THE FILE ABOUT HER SISTER"

Gürcün mentioned the situation of the 5-year-old sister who was taken under state protection and said the following:

"In our meetings with the prosecutor's office regarding her sister, examinations have been conducted with the presence of psychologists to determine whether this child has been subjected to sexual abuse, and there is no situation reflected in the file at the moment. Thankfully, our child does not have such a situation. She is already under state protection. Now she will continue in this process. As for her family, as I mentioned, we gave brief information. Bakiye's sisters contacted me. In this case, it is necessary to express that we, as a society, react strongly. There are many people who write and comment on these issues on social media. There needs to be calmness here. Regarding the family, we received some complaints about these sisters. There are false news circulating on social media. There are baseless allegations. We know all of them, these are factors that make it difficult for justice to be served. The prosecutor's office has taken over the file. They are conducting the process. As Tekirdağ Bar Association, we continue to observe. We continue to follow it. We say that everyone should be at ease about this and they also expressed that they will stand by us by responding positively to our call for the person who is guilty of the child, the children, and the adults to receive the heaviest punishment. As the bar association, we will continue to demand the necessary legal regulations to prevent such incidents from happening, and the stronger protection of children's rights. I emphasize that there is no doubt that we will fulfill our responsibilities in ensuring the equal protection of the rights of every member of society. "

Gürcün explained the situation of the 2 arrested children, saying, "These children are under 15 years old. And because they are under 15 years old, and I am talking about them being children who have been involved in crime, it is already written in Article 31, paragraph 2 of the Turkish Penal Code how much punishment they will receive. In other words, the punishment they will receive is already reduced by half or, if it is aggravated life imprisonment, it is converted into life imprisonment or lower penalties, and we are talking about a process in which their sentences can be reduced by up to half according to special regulations within the penal code. In this sense, we believe that our Penal Institutions should effectively rehabilitate these individuals, as you know, the main purpose of the penal execution is rehabilitation and reintegrating them into society. We think that our Penal Institutions will carry out these works," she said.
