Özel responded to the question, "The President's silence regarding Mr. Bahçeli's call continues. He spoke about TUSAŞ but has remained silent on this call. How do you evaluate this?" with the following:

But journalists will definitely ask this question and you will get an answer from Erdoğan. I maintain my belief on that issue. I mean, I followed the news closely. He did not touch on this topic on the plane. They emphasized that no journalist asked this question. The children of those journalists will one day say, 'My father used to be a journalist and my late father.' When asked 'Who was he?' and his name is mentioned, they will say 'He was not a journalist' if this continues. Therefore, journalists should do their journalism, and politicians should do their politics. Beyond that, the evaluation; it is not me who will satisfy the curiosity of our people, our nation.
