Parents of second-grade students at an elementary school located in the Demre district of Antalya filed a complaint, claiming that the class teacher's daughter was falling behind in her studies, and that other students were given kindergarten lessons for the first term and first-grade lessons and homework for the second term. In response to the protesting parents, the teacher reportedly said, "If you don't like it, send your child to a private school," and an investigation was initiated regarding the allegations.

Three student parents in the Demre district of Antalya filed a complaint with the District National Education Directorate, the school administration, and the Ministry of National Education through CİMER regarding the second-grade teacher E.D. at Çevreli Bozoğlu Tarkun Primary School.

In the complaints, it was stated that the teacher assigned first-grade lessons and homework to second-grade students due to her daughter in the same class not performing well, prioritized her daughter in class, decorated the classroom and celebrated her birthday, and when parents asked, 'Why are you giving first-grade lessons?' the teacher responded with answers like, 'If you don't like it, send your child to a private school.' Additionally, the parents mentioned in their complaints that the first-grade teacher was assigned to Alanya, and while waiting for the newly appointed teacher named M., E.D. came, and their children continued to receive kindergarten and first-grade lessons in the second grade.

HE GAVE PUNISHMENT TO STUDENTS ON THE SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL

Adem Boz, one of the student parents who filed written complaints to the District National Education and school administrations, as well as to CİMER twice, stated that his daughter continued to receive the education and information she received in the first grade last year in the second grade this year.

Adem Boz, who reported that the teacher E.D. came to the primary school in Çevreli from another school in Demre at the beginning of this academic year, said, "The teacher E.D. started the school year by punishing our child on the second day of school. When we went to school the next day to ask about the reason for the punishment, she said, 'If I don't put pressure on them from the beginning, they won't listen to me later.' My child does not want to go to school. 'We are afraid to raise our hands during class, the teacher always shouts in class,' she says. At the same time, E.'s daughter is a second-grade student. My daughter says, 'When we finish the lessons written on the board, the teacher's daughter does not erase the board until she finishes her lesson. When her daughter finishes the lesson before us, she immediately erases the board, she does not wait for us to finish the lesson.'

ALLEGATION OF A BIRTHDAY PARTY IN A SPECIAL CLASS FOR HER DAUGHTER

Adem Boz, who stated that the teacher's daughter is also in the second grade, said, "On her daughter's birthday, she decorated the classroom and instructed us parents through the WhatsApp group to have our children come to school in their best clothes that day. For some reason, we cannot celebrate our child's birthday in class with special decorations. Three parents conveyed our complaint about the teacher to the Demre District National Education Directorate. The director immediately called E. and asked her to come to the District Directorate. Shortly after, we received a phone call from the primary school administration before we parents left the building, saying, 'E. teacher has informed us that she has agreed to leave the school voluntarily during the midterm break,'" he stated. Boz expressed that they were disappointed while waiting for M. teacher in the second semester.

FIRST GRADE LESSON IN SECOND GRADE

Boz claimed that most of the lessons given in the first term in the class were kindergarten lessons, saying, "In the second semester, most of the lessons are the same as those given in the first grade last year. My daughter was warning us, 'I did these lessons last year.' When I sent a message to the school administration saying, 'Our children's education is not progressing at all,' the administration said that the second graders' year has gone to waste this year."

"IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, SEND YOUR CHILD TO A PRIVATE SCHOOL"

In his complaint, parent Boz stated that when they asked the teacher why first-grade level homework was being given, the school principal told them in his office, 'If you don't like it, send your child to a private school. I am ashamed because there are parents like you.' When they said that their children were insecure and unhappy due to being given first-grade level homework, he noted that she responded, 'Then take your child to a psychologist, what can I do?'

Following the complaints, an investigation was initiated by the Demre District National Education Directorate.
