The Tekman district of Erzurum was recorded as the coldest place in Turkey, with a temperature of minus 17 degrees at night. The Göle district of Ardahan ranked second with a temperature of minus 16.1 degrees.

The Tekman district of Erzurum recorded a temperature of minus 17 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest place in Turkey.

According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology's website, Tekman, where the lowest temperature of the day was measured, was followed by Yavuzlar village in the Göle district of Ardahan at minus 16.1 degrees. Due to the fog that has persisted in Erzurum for three days, visibility has decreased, making it difficult for drivers to proceed. In the city, where thermometers showed minus 8 degrees at night, some citizens covered their vehicles with tarpaulins to protect them from the cold.

DENSE FROST FORMED

Frost formed on the trees, and icicles appeared on the roofs of buildings. In Ardahan, dense fog and cold weather are having an impact. In the city center and the Göle district, dense frost formed due to the fog and cold weather. The snow that started last night in Kars and continued intermittently covered the surroundings in white. The cold weather and fog, which were effective with the snowfall, caused difficult moments for drivers. On roads where visibility decreased, drivers struggled to proceed. In the Sarıkamış district, where the air temperature dropped to minus 10 degrees at night, visibility decreased to 20 meters in the morning due to fog. Trees, plants, and electricity poles were covered with frost.

CARS FROZE

Citizen Serhat Yıldız stated that the weather has been particularly cold at night, saying, "The weather got very cold after the snowfall. Cars froze, they won't start, it's very cold." Meanwhile, small ponds in Keklik Valley froze, and the yellow pine trees covered in frost created a beautiful sight.
