Gendarmerie teams responding to a report of a stolen vehicle in Silivri, Istanbul, caught the thief and the vehicle at the scene. While the teams were searching, the suspect stole a gendarmerie patrol vehicle and disappeared. THE CAPTURED THIEF STOLE A GENDARMERIE VEHICLE THIS TIMEThe incident occurred in Silivri on January 6 at around 02:15. According to allegations, a person reported to his cousin Mustafa S. that his vehicle had been stolen and taken to a horse farm located in Silivri. Upon the report, teams from the Silivri District Gendarmerie Command went to the address. The gendarmerie teams determined that the suspect, Tayyip F., was found at the address with the stolen vehicle. The gendarmerie teams apprehended Tayyip F. and put him in the gendarmerie vehicle. While the teams were conducting evidence collection and search operations in the area, the suspect stole the gendarmerie vehicle and quickly left the farm, connecting to the North Marmara Highway towards Istanbul. CRASHED WHILE ESCAPINGWhile driving on the highway, the suspect crashed into a barrier at the Odayeri toll booths. The theft suspect continued to flee on the same road with the gendarmerie vehicle he had crashed.
ABANDONED THE VEHICLE AND DISAPPEAREDThe suspect reached the Okmeydanı area of Şişli district with the stolen vehicle. Here, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and disappeared. While the gendarmerie teams retrieved the abandoned vehicle from its location, extensive efforts to capture the fleeing suspect are ongoing.
