Kars Culture and Tourism Science Expert Mehmet Duman stated that there is intense interest in the Touristic Eastern Express. Duman said, "As you know, with the approach of the winter season, the Touristic Eastern Express is also starting its operations. There is a very high interest in the Touristic Eastern Express, which will start operating between December 23 and March 2. Especially, it departs from Ankara on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while it operates from Kars on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. With these trips, the average ticket price per person is around 5,000 lira, while tour operators also include Kars trips, travel, accommodation, and flight tickets in their pricing. These can show price differences ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 lira," he said.

Duman added, "This situation, along with the natural beauties and nostalgic structure of the Touristic Eastern Express, showcases the beauties of our cities Erzurum, Kayseri, Sivas, and Erzincan with average stops of 2.5 to 4 hours. As Kars tourism, we are preparing for the season at full speed with our Ani Archaeological Site, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, our structures with Baltic architectural features, our Çıldır Lake, and the crystal snow land of Sarıkamış," he stated.

THE JOURNEY LASTS 31 HOURS

On the other hand, the journey starting from Ankara on December 23, 2024, will last 31 hours, passing through Kayseri, Sivas, Erzincan, and Erzurum, and will end in Kars.

The tickets for the Touristic Eastern Express are sold at TCDD for 5,250 lira, while the prices offered by tour operators that prepare package programs, including Kars trips, travel, accommodation, and flight tickets, range between 20,000 and 30,000 lira.
