The General Communiqué of the Tax Procedure Law prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance's Revenue Administration has been published in the Official Gazette. The revaluation rate for 2024 has been determined as 43.93 percent. With the revaluation rate, traffic fines have also been clarified. The revaluation rate had previously been announced as 58.46 percent for the year 2024.

THE MAIN REASON FOR THE INCREASE IS THE CPI

In the communiqué, it was stated that according to the Tax Procedure Law, the revaluation rate is the average price increase rate in the Domestic Producer Price Index of the Turkish Statistical Institute for the same period of the previous year in October (including October) of the year in which the revaluation will be made, and this rate must be announced by the Ministry in the Official Gazette.

In this context, it was noted that the revaluation rate for 2024 has been determined as 43.93 percent. It was reported that previous communiqués published on this matter are still in effect.

A NEW RATE WILL NOW BE VALID FOR INCREASES

With the revaluation rate, traffic fines, driver's license fees, vehicle inspection fees, passport fees, IMEI registration fees, and exit fees for abroad have been redefined. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has the authority to increase or decrease the revaluation rate by 50 percent according to the laws.

The President does not have the authority to reduce or increase traffic fines. The President is authorized to increase or decrease the vehicle inspection fees and fines, which are increased annually by the revaluation rate, by 20 percent every five years.
