The case of baby Sıla, who lost her life due to sexual abuse and assault, has been postponed.

On September 8, 2024, in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, baby Sıla (2), who was left by her mother to a neighbor, was sexually abused and died a month later on October 7, 2024, after being hospitalized due to injuries. The first hearing of the case is starting today.

THE HEARING WILL BE HELD IN PRIVATE

The hearing, which will be held at the Tekirdağ 2nd High Criminal Court, will be closed to the public as adults and juvenile offenders will be tried together, in accordance with Article 185 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In the indictment prepared regarding the baby's death, it is claimed that the suspects, mother Bakiye Yeniçeri (29), neighbor Kani A. (32), neighbor children K.A. (13) and G.K. (14), and Sanlı Ö. (57) caused the death of baby Sıla due to their negligence and actions.

MOTHER SEEKS 67 YEARS IN PRISON

The investigation regarding baby Sıla was completed by the Malkara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and the indictment was sent to the Tekirdağ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the case to be opened. The Chief Prosecutor's Office prepared two separate indictments for Bakiye Yeniçeri, Sanlı Ö., Kani A., G.K., and K.A. In the indictment, a total of 67 years in prison is requested for mother Bakiye Yeniçeri for the crimes of 'Intentional killing by negligent behavior', 'Destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence', and 'Violation of obligations arising from family law'.

For Sanlı Ö., 1 year and 6 months for the crime of 'Failure to report a crime, concealment', and for Kani A., the father of child K.A., 28 years and 6 months in prison is requested for the crimes of 'Sexual abuse of a child' and 'Deprivation of liberty'.

The indictment prepared for juvenile offenders G.K. and K.A. was sent to the Tekirdağ 3rd High Criminal Court. In the indictment, a total of 66 years is requested for G.K. for the crimes of 'Qualified sexual abuse of a child' and 'Deprivation of liberty', and for K.A., 48 years for 'Qualified sexual abuse', 'Deprivation of liberty', and aggravated life imprisonment for 'Intentional killing'. The two separate indictments were combined at the Tekirdağ 2nd High Criminal Court.

MOTHER THREW AWAY SILA'S BLOODY CLOTH

It is alleged that mother Bakiye Yeniçeri, despite being responsible for the care and protection of her child, left Sıla in an environment where she could be subjected to violence and sexual abuse, concealed evidence by throwing away the bloody cloth, and failed to report the incident. The indictment states that mother Bakiye Yeniçeri is facing charges of "Intentional homicide" due to her negligence in the incident.

NEIGHBOR AND CHILDREN INVOLVED IN SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

Neighbor Kani A. is implicated in the sexual abuse of baby Sıla and in depriving the child of her liberty by using force, supported by forensic reports and DNA examinations. It is stated that Kani A.'s son K.A. and neighbor child G.K. are also involved in the abuse and violence incidents, but this situation is a separate subject of investigation. Sanlı Ö. is accused of failing to report the sexual abuse and violence against baby Sıla, despite knowing about it. It is emphasized that Sanlı's responsibility has increased due to his failure to conduct the necessary inquiries regarding the incident.

SILA DIED DUE TO BRAIN HEMORRHAGE CAUSED BY A BLOW TO THE HEAD

The forensic report states that Sıla Yeniçeri's death was due to a brain hemorrhage resulting from a blow to the head. Additionally, it is noted that there were signs of trauma in the anal region of baby Sıla.
