A new investigation has been launched against Ahmet Özer, the mayor of Esenyurt, who was appointed as a trustee, on charges of "financing terrorism."

The Ministry of Interior has removed Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer from office as part of a terrorism investigation and appointed Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy as the trustee in his place.

A new investigation has been initiated against Özer. While the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau regarding Özer for the crime of "membership in an armed terrorist organization" is ongoing, another investigation has been opened for the crime of "financing terrorism."
