The trustee was appointed in place of the muhtar.

The headman of Burmadere (Sors) Village in Damal, which is connected to Ardahan, Şah İsmail Göyük, has been replaced by Yasin Zorlu, the Director of the Provincial Special Administration, as the "muhtar." In a statement regarding the matter, Göyük said, "My message written for the leaders of the '68 generation in the Anti-Terrorism Branch was presented to me as evidence of a crime. Mentioning Mahir, Deniz, and Kaypakkaya was indicated as an accusation of wrongdoing."

Ardahan Governor Hayrettin Çiçek held a meeting with Alevi elders, Cemevi presidents, and twenty-eight Alevi village muhtars, where he requested the village muhtars to connect their cemevis to the Alevi Bektaşi Culture and Cemevi Presidency. During the meeting, which was also attended by Interior Ministry Advisor Esma Ersin, Muhtar Şahismail Güyük opposed the connection to the Alevi Bektaşi Culture and Cemevi Presidency.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED REGARDING THE SHARING

As a result, Muhtar Şahismail Güyük was detained for "making propaganda for a terrorist organization" because he shared images of the leading figures of the 68 generation on his social media ten years ago.

HE WENT TO SIGN, LEARNED HE WAS SUSPENDED FROM DUTY

In the hearing held at Ardahan Criminal Court, Muhtar Şahismail Güyük was released under supervised probation. Güyük learned this time that he was suspended from duty while signing at the gendarmerie station every Monday for the past two months. Yasin Zorlu, the Director of Provincial Special Administration, was appointed as "muhtar" in place of Güyük.

In statements regarding the issue, Güyük said to Barış Yarkadaş: "Mr. Barış, we were invited to a meeting at the Ardahan Governorship about 1 or 1.5 months ago. All muhtars with a Cemevi in their village were invited. We are Alevi. At that meeting, a lady from the Interior Ministry said, 'The needs of the cemevis will be met by the Ministry of Culture. Write us your list of needs.'

"ARE WE A DANCE SCHOOL?"

I thanked her for this but also objected. My objection was to the desire to connect the cemevi to the Ministry of Culture. I told the official lady, 'We are not a Dance School or a Music School. We do not do ballet either. What do we have to do with the Ministry of Culture? Cemevis are places of faith. We do not need that money.' As the discussion prolonged, we reached the issues of 'equal citizenship' and 'Why is there not a single Alevi governor?' Some muhtars provided the requested documents. I reacted to them by saying, 'You are making a mistake. Even your children can sue you.' The meeting ended, and we returned to our villages. About a month or a month and a half after the meeting, I was detained and taken to the Anti-Terror Branch due to my social media posts.

WHAT IS THE ALLEGATION OF CRIME?

In the Anti-Terror Branch, the message I wrote about the leaders of the 68 generation was presented to me as a criminal element. Mentioning Mahir, Deniz, and Kaypakkaya was stated as a criminal allegation. I explained that these are not crimes and that as a poor villager child, I sympathized with the leaders of 68. I am a member of the CHP. I said this to the police and the prosecutor as well. The prosecutor requested my arrest. Allegedly, I made propaganda for a terrorist organization. I rejected the allegations. My trial will be held on December 9. Yesterday, they appointed a civil servant as a trustee in my place. We are currently at the café with the villagers. No one sees the trustee as legitimate. I did not commit a crime. The trustee should be removed. I want to return to my duty. I will also convey the issue to our party."
