After the overthrow of the 61-year Baath regime, while the doors to a new era in Syria are wide open, the presence of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG at our border poses a threat. Ankara, which has taken steps in the process it started with the slogan "Terror-free Turkey," is ready for all scenarios to eliminate the PKK/YPG terrorist organization in both Iraq and Syria.
MEETINGS WITH AHMED SHARA IN SUCCESSION
Continuing to take strategic steps towards the elimination of the terrorist organization, Turkey has held successive meetings with the new leader of the administration in Syria, Ahmed Shara, and has clearly communicated the demand for necessary steps to be taken.
A TWO-STAGE PLAN WILL BE IMPLEMENTED
According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper, in the first stage, non-Syrian terrorists within the PKK/YPG in Syria will leave the country as soon as possible. PKK personnel coming from Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Europe will leave the country unconditionally. In the second stage, the entire command structure of the YPG, including those who are Syrian, will leave Syria. Syrian citizens will also lay down their arms, and it will be determined by the Syrian administration whether and how they will be integrated into the new system.
ANKARA WANTS A BLOODLESS AND PROBLEM-FREE TRANSITION
Waiting for steps to be taken regarding their demands, Ankara wants a bloodless and problem-free transition and has begun preparations for all possible scenarios. One of these is a military operation. Sources from the Ministry of National Defense have pointed out that there have been nearly 100 harassment and attack attempts against the units in Syria within a week, indicating that all security measures have been taken for the units in the operation areas.
ALL UNITS HAVE BEEN PUT ON ALERT
All units at the border have been put on alert regarding the steps to be taken, while Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler recently conducted inspections and audits at the Main Command Post of the 6th Corps and Joint Special Task Command in the Syrian border region with the Chief of General Staff and Force Commanders. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, while explaining Turkey's resolute stance on the elimination of the PKK/YPG to all visiting ministers, also conveyed the message to the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, that developments in Syria should not lead to new instabilities in the region.
DEPLOYMENT FROM THE SYRIAN NATIONAL ARMY TO THE FRONT
The Syrian National Army (SNA) has deployed heavy weapons to the front lines with the PKK/YPG in the Peace Spring Operation area. In the area liberated from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, the SNA Joint Forces have sent heavy weapons and fighters to the front lines facing the districts of Ayn al-Arab in Aleppo, Ayn Issa in Raqqa, and Tal Tamr in Hasakah. SNA Joint Forces Commander Abu Abdullah Muhammad stated in a statement that they have raised military preparations to an alert level by making deployments to all front lines. The districts of Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ayn were liberated from the occupation of the YPG/PKK terrorist organization by Turkey's Peace Spring Operation carried out in October 2019.
ERDOĞAN: WE CAN COME SUDDENLY ONE NIGHT
It will be remembered that the first signal for a military operation in Syria was given by President Erdoğan after a Cabinet meeting with the message, "We can come suddenly one night." Following this, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who participated in a live broadcast on CNN Türk, stated, "If you do not want a military operation, the conditions are clear from us and the new administration. Either they will fulfill the requirements and lay down their arms, or they will be buried in that land with their weapons."
