The USA has shot down its own fighter jet in the Red Sea.

The United States reported that it "accidentally" shot down one of its fighter jets in the Red Sea, and that both pilots on board were rescued by the ejection seat system.

According to a report by NBC News, a statement was made by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) regarding the incident. The statement indicated that while conducting operations on the aircraft carrier "USS Harry S. Truman" in the Red Sea, the "USS Gettysburg" cruiser "accidentally fired" at an "F/A-18" fighter jet.

CONSIDERED AS A "FRIENDLY FIRE INCIDENT"

The statement noted that both pilots were rescued by the ejection seat system, but one was slightly injured during the evacuation, and the incident was classified as a "friendly fire incident." It was also mentioned that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.

In a statement made from CENTCOM's X account, it was reported that an airstrike was carried out against a missile depot and command and control center belonging to the Houthis in Yemen.
