The active Dukono Volcano on Halmahera Island in Indonesia erupted on August 17th while climbers were ascending to the summit. Pieces and ash clouds ejected from the crater caused moments of fear, and it was observed that climbers quickly moved away from the area. The eruption spewed ash and smoke to a height of approximately 2.4 kilometers.
Climbers managed to escape the eruption unharmed, according to information obtained from local sources.
After the eruption, a massive layer of smoke covered the sky. Anak Esa, who recorded the footage of the terrifying moments, warned climbers by saying, "Dukono's volcanic activity was so high that pieces were scattered from the crater. Before climbing to the summit, we should observe the direction of the wind, the strength of the eruption, and other factors. Do not attempt to climb to the summit when conditions are not suitable."
