In the recent drought-affected areas of Lake Eğirdir, findings believed to be numerous 'urn graves' have emerged along the shoreline in the village of Beydere.
REPORTED TO THE GENDARMERIE
In Beydere, which is mostly the part of the lake that has receded this year, it was observed that some of the urns that surfaced contained bones believed to belong to humans. Beydere's Muhtar Ali Dalfidan, who noticed the urns that were broken by unidentified individuals, reported the situation to the gendarmerie. Dalfidan took measures to protect the human bones found with his own means.
THEY HAVE BROKEN THE URNS
Speaking to DHA, Ali Dalfidan stated that they encountered multiple large urns along the shore due to the receding waters, and that some urns contained remains resembling human bones. Dalfidan reported that they informed the District Gendarmerie Command about the situation, mentioning that the urns were broken by unidentified individuals who thought there might be valuable items inside, which damaged the historical fabric.
"ARCHAEOLOGICAL WORK IS NECESSARY"
Muhtar Ali Dalfidan emphasized that they believe the findings were used as 'urn graves' and that the area must be examined by expert teams. Dalfidan also requested that archaeological work be conducted in the region. A detailed investigation regarding the findings that emerged along the lakeshore is expected to be initiated.
