During the ongoing budget discussions in the General Assembly, a significant debate erupted. The remarks made by AK Party Istanbul Deputy Nilhan Ayan, stating, "However, at the point we have reached today, the increase you made on water has already surpassed that of electricity and gas, hasn't it?" ignited the tension.
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly experienced a significant debate while discussing the 2026 budgets of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
"YOU HAVE ALWAYS REJECTED SERVICE POLITICS"
The debate began after AK Party Istanbul Deputy Nilhan Ayan's remarks directed at the main opposition during his speech.
Ayan stated: "While we built 51,281 village houses, you mobilized all the resources of municipalities for your personal villas. Despite you, we have started to build 500,000 houses with the century's housing project in all 81 of our provinces. We are beginning to build homes for the families of martyrs who protect this sacred homeland at the cost of their lives, for our veterans, for retirees, and for everyone who has dedicated their lives to this country, especially for our youth, who are the guarantee of our future. And you have always rejected service politics. We extracted oil in Gabar and natural gas in Sakarya; you belittled it."
"IN THE PAST, THOSE WHO TOOK THE ENGLISH AMBASSADOR'S CAR INSTEAD OF THE HORSES..."
At this point, CHP Antalya Deputy Cavit Arı interjected, saying, "We are still using the most expensive gasoline, how is that possible?" CHP Bursa Deputy Yüksel Selçuk Türkoğlu also chimed in, "Is that why diesel is 60 lira? The price is increasing as oil is extracted in Gabar."
Ayan continued: "While we produce our own plane, ship, and radar, you still said, 'Your technology is not enough.' When we said 'missile,' you said, 'The fish get scared.' The fish are not scared; we know who is scared, we know very well who is afraid. It is not the scared anchovies, but those who complain about their country to foreigners; it is not the frightened mullets, but the oppressed who disregard national values; it is not those who flee and evade, but those who seek help from imperialism. Those who used to take the English ambassador's car instead of the horses are now crying at their doors, 'Save us, England.'
"YOU SAID 'OIL DID NOT COME OUT IN GABAR,' WE HAVE OIL"
These words caused a significant reaction from the opposition benches. Tension escalated when Ayan took the floor again.

AK Party Istanbul Deputy Nilhan Ayan: Mr. President, thank you for giving me the floor. Look, I am responding because you mentioned my name. You said, 'Oil did not come out in Gabar,' we have oil.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır: No one said such a thing.

Nilhan Ayan (Continuing): However, at the point we have reached today, the increase you made on water has long surpassed electricity and gas, hasn't it?
CHP Antalya Deputy Cavit Arı: Mr. Deputy, are you not listening to the speeches?
Ayan (Continuing): As for the English issue, this is not a figment of imagination; your party's Chairman expressed his regrets to England, going to their door saying, 'Please, help us.' If you are going to hold someone accountable for this, you will hold him accountable.
Başarır: Look, sir, this is rudeness! Let me tell you something. I am reading the exact sentence he said here: 'In the past, those who took the English ambassador's car instead of the horses...' That suits you, suits you. What rudeness is this, what rudeness!
"DID YOUR PARTY CHAIRMAN NOT SAY 'I AM A YOUNG TURK?'"
Ayan: Your party chairman said, 'I am a Young Turk,' did he not? He said, 'They are ours,' he said, 'We are their representatives.' Please, there is no lie in what I said here.
