The workers flocking to the region for hazelnuts doubled the population of the district.

The population of Alaplı district in Zonguldak reached approximately twice its normal size, with the arrival of workers for hazelnut picking. The region, especially known for its agricultural workers, also experienced an increase in economic activity.

Local shopkeepers stated that this population increase had a positive impact on business volume. Additionally, there was an increase in demand for services such as accommodation and transportation. Alaplı became one of the vital economic centers of the region during the hazelnut harvest season, hosting numerous agricultural workers not only from the district but also from surrounding provinces.

The temporary increase in population density also led to an increase in the number of patients. Hospitals experienced a surge in patient numbers during the hazelnut harvest season.
