Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran announced that the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held on July 7-8 in Ankara, hosted by President Erdogan. At the summit, leaders will discuss defense investments, NATO's deterrence and defense efforts, security threats in the Euro-Atlantic region, and recent developments in Ukraine and the Alliance's southern flank.
Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran announced in a statement that the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026.
Duran stated that the summit will be hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex.
DEFENSE AND SECURITY TOPICS ON THE AGENDA
According to the statement, at the summit, the steps taken within the scope of decisions to increase defense investments, as well as NATO's work on deterrence and defense, will be evaluated from a 360-degree perspective.
Leaders will also address threats, risks, and security challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic geography at a strategic level. The latest situation in Ukraine and recent developments on NATO's southern flank will be among the key agenda items of the summit.
RECEPTION AND DINNER FOR LEADERS
Burhanettin Duran announced that within the scope of the summit, President Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan will host a reception and dinner on July 7 at the Presidential Complex in honor of guest heads of state and government and their spouses.
NORTH ATLANTIC COUNCIL TO MEET
On the second day of the summit, July 8, the North Atlantic Council will convene at the level of allied heads of state and government, hosted by President Erdoğan.
BILATERAL MEETINGS ALSO PLANNED
It was reported that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with participating heads of state and government on the margins of the summit.
