President Erdogan met with Ayse Ates, the wife of the former Chairman of the Idealist Hearths, Sinan Ates, who was killed. After the meeting, Ayse Ates made a statement saying, "Until today, those who have been threatening and slandering us, making our lives miserable with the silence of our esteemed President, those who have taken the breath of my children, those who praise the crime and the criminal, should think about what they will say tomorrow based on what they said yesterday. Because justice will definitely prevail, no one's actions will go unpunished."

The President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Ayse Ates, the wife of the former Chairman of the Idealist Hearths Sinan Ates, who was killed in Ankara. After the meeting, Ayse Ates made a striking statement.

The reception at the Presidential Complex was held behind closed doors. Ates' daughters Bengisu and Banucicek were also present at the reception. The meeting between President Erdogan and Ayse Ates lasted for 1 hour. Ayse Ates, who met with President Erdogan, made a statement to the press about the meeting.

"I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, WE TALKED ABOUT THE CASE"

Ates, who stated that she went to the one-hour meeting with her two daughters, thanked President Erdogan for taking the time for them. Ates stated that Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc and the Director of the Presidential Private Office Hasan Dogan also attended the meeting and said, "He really listened to me and my daughters for a long time. My daughters also had a long conversation, they chatted with him. I explained the situation, I explained, we talked about the case." she said.

"WE LEFT SATISFIED"

Ates, who stated that the meeting went well and positively, said, "We left satisfied, my daughters also left happily. We can say that we shared our troubles, the meeting went in that atmosphere." she said. Ates stated that her only request is for the trial to be conducted quickly and for justice to be served, saying, "He said that what is necessary will be done quickly." she said.

Ayse Ates also made a written statement on her social media account after the meeting. Ates said, "Our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received me and my daughters in his office. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc and the Director of the President's Private Office Hasan Dogan accompanied us during the meeting, which lasted for about 1.5 hours. Our President listened to me and my daughters individually. He gave gifts to my daughters. I thank him once again in front of you all." she said.

"NO ONE WILL GET AWAY WITH WHAT THEY HAVE DONE"

Summarizing her meeting with Erdogan, Ates said, "Let anyone who has been threatening and slandering us, making our lives miserable, and praising the crime and the criminal, taking strength from the silence of our President so far, think about what they will say tomorrow by looking at what they said yesterday. Because justice will definitely prevail, no one will get away with what they have done." she used the expressions.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On December 30, 2022, former Chairman of the Idealist Hearths and academician Sinan Ates was attacked by Eray Ozyagci, who was hiding behind a car, with a gun in Kizilirmak Neighborhood of Cankaya. One bullet fired by Ozyagci hit Bozkurt, and five bullets hit Ates. Sinan Ates lost his life in the attack.

In the indictment of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Ayse Ates, the wife of Ates, and Selman Bozkurt, who was with him at the time of the incident, were included as "complainant", and 22 people were included as "defendant". In the indictment, it was requested that the defendants Ozyagci, Balkaya, and Kurt be punished with aggravated life imprisonment for "deliberate killing with premeditation", and that Selman Bozkurt be punished with 13 to 20 years for "attempted deliberate killing with premeditation"; and that Cep and Demirbas be punished with aggravated life imprisonment for inciting murder. It was also requested that Ozyagci be sentenced to 1 to 3 years for "unlicensed possession and carrying of a firearm" and that Demirbas be sentenced to 3 to 7 years for "illegally obtaining personal data in a chain-like manner".

While the defendants Asarkaya, Sarac, Kokturk, Yuce, Uzunlar, Gelenbey, Colak, Bayraktar, Guney, Ersoy, Zorlu, Atac, Yuksel, Oktem, Karadeniz, Atay, and Aykal were requested to be sentenced to 15 to 20 years for "aiding deliberate killing with premeditation", it was requested that Aykal be punished with 3 to 6 years for abusing the authority given by public duty and illegally obtaining personal information of the victim. The investigation against the other 17 out of a total of 39 people who were subject to proceedings and had a travel ban imposed on them is ongoing in a separate file.
