SYRIANS FLOODED TO UMAYYAD SQUARE
The celebrations that began yesterday across Syria continued today with military parades. In the capital Damascus, thousands of people flocked to Umayyad Square. Fireworks displays and concerts were held in the square. Syrians sang and danced. Additionally, a paramotor show was organized above the square.
ABDULBASIT SARUT'S PHOTO WAS DISPLAYED
During the emotional moments of the celebration, a giant photo of Abdulbasit Sarut, one of the symbolic figures of the Syrian revolution known as the "Nightingale of the Revolution," who lost his life in rural Idlib in 2019, was projected onto the National Library building. With the projection of Sarut's photo, thousands of people in the square sang his songs and chanted slogans in unison.
SHARA'S ADDRESS TO THE NATION WAS BROADCASTED
On the giant screens set up in the square, the address to the nation by Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara was also broadcasted. The speech was met with cheers of support from the public, while slogans supporting Gaza were frequently chanted in the square. Security forces implemented strict security measures in the square to prevent any negative incidents.
