A Syrian jeweler living in Bursa disappeared with millions of liras worth of gold collected from fellow Syrian citizens. Syrian citizens, who have been waiting for the jeweler to open for 3 days, reported the situation to the police when he did not open today. SHUTTERS DID NOT OPENThe incident took place last Saturday on Darmstad Street, known as Little Damascus, in the central Osmangazi district. The shutters of the jeweler, who opens regularly every morning and is owned by a Syrian, did not open on Saturday morning. THEY CALLED THE POLICEWhen the shopkeepers and citizens in the vicinity became suspicious, they called the owner of the jewelry store on the phone. When the Syrian citizens with the gold could not reach the jeweler in any way, they reported the situation to the police. Upon the notification, the teams that came to the area directed the Syrian citizens who claimed to be victims to the Çarşı Police Station to apply. THEY DO NOT LEAVE IN FRONT OF THE SHOPThe Fraud Bureau Branch of the Public Security Branch Directorate also launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter. It drew attention that Syrian victims occasionally go to the closed jewelry store and check the business with hope. The Syrian victims stated that the jeweler came at night, put the gold and foreign currencies in a bag, and escaped from Bursa.
