More than 150 motorcycle-riding attackers stormed the village of Tungan Dutse in Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria. At least 50 people were killed in the attack, while many others, including women and children, were abducted.
In an attack carried out by armed individuals in the village of Tungan Dutse, located in Zamfara state in northwestern Nigeria, at least 50 people lost their lives, while many others were kidnapped.
Hamisu Faru, the representative of the region where the attack took place in the Zamfara State Assembly, stated in a local press release on Saturday that the assault on the village, located in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area, continued from Thursday evening until Friday morning.
MORE THAN 150 MOTORCYCLE ATTACKERS
Referring to initial assessments related to the incident, Faru noted that more than 150 motorcycle attackers roamed the village, firing randomly at civilians and destroying some buildings.
AT LEAST 50 PEOPLE HAVE DIED
Faru stated, "The attackers, who stormed the village with a large group, caused the deaths of at least 50 people," adding that many individuals fled into nearby bushes for their safety, and therefore the exact number of those kidnapped during the attack has not yet been determined.
THEY KIDNAPPED WOMEN AND CHILDREN
Faru reported that among the deceased were traders and farmers, and that a large portion of those kidnapped were women and children.
