One of Turkey's important winter tourism centers, Uludağ, which has 17 hotels, facilities, and a capacity of 5,000 beds, saw its first snowfall of the season on October 17, while the ski slopes opened on December 15.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION COST REACHES 16,500 TL

As the occupancy rate in hotels reached 80% before the semester break, the falling snow delighted both holidaymakers and operators. In Uludağ, where the snow depth is measured at 68 centimeters, the air temperature was recorded at a maximum of 1 degree and a minimum of minus 3 degrees, while the ski slopes were filled with local and foreign tourists. The minimum overnight accommodation cost for those wishing to vacation in Uludağ during the semester break is 16,500 TL.

"WE EXPECT IT TO BE 100%"

Yahya Usta, President of the Turkish Ski and Snowboard Instructors Association and a former national skier, stated that the activity on the slopes has increased with the intermittent snowfall throughout the week, saying, "Interest in the semester holiday in Uludağ is quite intense, and the occupancy rate in hotels is currently around 80%. We expect this rate to be 100% at the beginning of the semester. The earliest snow falls in Uludağ and the latest snow melts in Uludağ. Due to its proximity to large cities, Uludağ becomes the most suitable holiday destination for citizens," he said.

"DO NOT TAKE LESSONS FROM PIRATE INSTRUCTORS"

Yahya Usta, who stated that Uludağ is the most suitable place for those who want to learn skiing, mentioned that the cost of a ski lesson is 3,000 TL, the daily rental fee for ski equipment is 1,300 TL, and the skipass fee is 1,500 TL. He emphasized that training should be taken from certified instructors, otherwise irreversible injuries could occur. Usta said, "Our citizens should not take lessons from these kinds of unlicensed pirate instructors to reduce the injury rates. We will also follow up on this issue, which we believe will have a negative impact on human life," he said.

"ARABS REALLY LIKE ULUDAĞ"

Metehan Taşdemir (25), a ski coach, stated that the number of visitors has increased with the snowfall in Uludağ, saying, "With the snow that started three days ago in Uludağ, the visitor density has also increased. The interest of students is very high here. Tourists are coming from abroad, and especially Arabs really like Uludağ. The pleasure of skiing in Uludağ is very different; I invite everyone to come here," he said.

Mehmet Yıldırım, who said he came to Uludağ to ski, stated, "I came to Bursa for a concert. After that, I went up to Uludağ and started skiing. I came here from Antalya. Tourists coming to Antalya are currently swimming in the sea. In fact, my father swam in the sea last week. And I am skiing here now. I have been coming to Uludağ for 8 years, and skiing here is very enjoyable. The pleasure of Uludağ is very different," he said.

Middle school student Sümeyye Efe also said, "I am skiing for the first time in Uludağ, where I came for the first time. This place is really a very fun place. I wish I had come here earlier with my family and spent enjoyable time. The atmosphere here is very nice and very fun. I am having a great time, and I will always come to Uludağ during my semester break from now on. This place is a ski center that is better than I expected," she said.
