Nine suspects who defrauded students brought from Iran with the promise of placement in medical departments of universities in Turkey without exams and horizontal transfer were caught, amounting to approximately 700 thousand dollars. Seven of the suspects, who turned their consultancy company in Beylikdüzü into a dormitory and hosted the people they would defraud there, were arrested and sent to prison. PROMISE OF "MEDICAL FACULTY" WITHOUT EXAM FOR IRANIAN STUDENTSSome individuals of Iranian nationality in Istanbul reported that they were defrauded with the promise of enrolling in a university in Turkey. Following the report, police teams initiated an investigation. In the investigations conducted by the Fraud Bureau, it was determined that the suspects deceived the victims by promising that they would be placed in the medical departments of important universities in Turkey without exams or that they could make horizontal transfers. The suspects were found to have hosted students and their families in houses they converted into dormitories after contacting wealthy families in Iran. 700 THOUSAND DOLLAR SCAMAfter 3 months of technical and physical surveillance authorized by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that 13 of the suspects were Iranian and 2 were Turkish. A simultaneous operation was carried out in Ankara and Istanbul to capture the 15 suspects who made a scam of approximately 700 thousand dollars. While 9 suspects in Turkey were caught and detained during the operations, it was determined that 6 suspects were abroad. 7 OF THEM WERE ARRESTEDAfter the completion of the procedures at the police station, the captured suspects were referred to the judicial authorities. While 2 of the suspects were released under judicial control by the judicial authorities to which they were referred, 7 suspects were arrested and sent to prison.
