In the Amasra district of Bartın, graffiti was sprayed on Direkli Rock and the walls and ramparts of the historic Amasra Castle by unidentified person or persons. While efforts have been initiated to remove the writings and shapes, it was stated that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the graffiti on charges of "damaging cultural and natural assets."
The place known as 'Direkli Kaya,' where the Persian princess Amastris, the first queen to mint coins in her name and declare her rule during the Hellenistic period, is said to have entered the sea, along with the walls and ramparts of Amasra Castle surrounding the district from the sea, have been damaged by letters, emojis, and shapes spray-painted on them.
DISTRICT GOVERNORSHIP LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION
While the identities of those who wrote on and drew shapes on the historical structures remain unknown, the district governorship has initiated efforts to remove the writings and shapes. It was learned that the writings on Direkli Kaya were covered with white paint, while efforts to clean the writings on the castle walls and ramparts are ongoing.
POLICE ALSO STEPPED IN
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the writings and have begun reviewing recordings from nearby security cameras. It was stated that legal action would be taken against the person or persons who wrote on the historical rock on charges of 'damaging cultural and natural assets.'
