Two brothers who stole 250 thousand dollars, disguised as an accident, from the Grand Bazaar in Fatih, Istanbul, were arrested. The investigation that followed the incident revealed a theft story filled with contradictory statements. THE LIE OF "250 THOUSAND DOLLARS GONE" AFTER THE ACCIDENTOfficials from the Istanbul Public Order Branch questioned H.B.K after the theft incident that occurred on August 17. It was learned that H.B.K told the police that he was involved in an accident on Adnan Menderes Boulevard in Fatih while taking the 250 thousand dollars he had obtained from a currency exchange office in the Grand Bazaar to a textile company in Zeytinburnu. H.B.K claimed in his statement that he was taken to Bayrampaşa State Hospital by ambulance while unconscious, and when he regained consciousness at the hospital, he had his cousin check the bag full of money in the vehicle, but they realized that the money had been stolen after the accident. CAMERA RECORDINGS REVEALED THE TRUTHPolice, suspicious of H.B.K's contradictory statements, examined the camera recordings. The recordings showed that H.B.K entered the restroom of Nuruosmaniye Mosque after taking the money from the currency exchange office and met his brother S.K. in the restroom, and when S.K. exited the restroom, he had bulges around his waist. Following this, H.B.K, who was detained in Esenler, confessed to his crime. It was learned that H.B.K, along with his brother S.K., staged the theft as an accident, spent part of the money, and that the remaining amount was with S.K. in Samsun. S.K. was also caught at his home with 210 thousand dollars during an operation organized by the Samsun Provincial Police Department. After completing their procedures at the police station, the two brothers were arrested by the judicial authorities to whom they were referred.
