Family physicians demonstrating against the new Family Physicians Regulation will hold a strike action between January 6-10. Prior to the strike, health professional organizations gathered in front of the Eskişehir Provincial Health Directorate's Additional Service Building to make statements regarding their demands.

Speaking on behalf of the professional organizations, SES Eskişehir Branch Co-Chair Bülent Yıldırım said, "We call on the Minister of Health once again; immediately retract your mistake. Stop playing with our dignity. We will never allow you to trample on our professional honor and respect. We are the ones experiencing the problems, consult us. Instead of constantly disrupting the health environment, do your actual job. If you cannot do these, resign immediately," he stated.

"THE HEALTH OF OUR PATIENTS AND OUR LABOR ARE NOT FOR SALE"

SES Eskişehir Branch Co-Chair Bülent Yıldırım stated, "We, health workers, are entering the first days of 2025 fighting for our professional honor and the health rights of our people. Our request is very simple. We want our people not to get sick, to be able to protect them from illnesses, and to provide them with the best health services when they are sick. However, they do not allow this. They pressure us and impose penalties because we demand to provide good health services. We do not accept the so-called health services they impose on us that are profit-driven and market-oriented. The health of our patients and our labor are not for sale. For these reasons, we will start the new year fighting for a working environment where our professional honor and values are not trampled, where good medical principles and our professional autonomy are respected, where there is no violence, and of course, for a livelihood that will allow us to live humanely and reflect on our retirement," he expressed.

"WE ARE SUBJECTED TO BAD WORKING CONDITIONS AND VIOLENCE"

"Each of us, in every place we work, is subjected to pressure, poor management, disrespect, bad working conditions, and violence, albeit in different dimensions. We consider these as attacks on our professional honor," Yıldırım said, adding, "The last straw in these years of attacks has been the regulation imposed on our family physician colleagues and health workers. Therefore, we went on strike for three and five days at family health centers on November 5-7, 2024, and December 2-6, 2024. Since that date, we have been waiting for the Ministry of Health to retract its mistake. However, instead of retracting their mistakes, they continue to add new mistakes to their existing ones and new tortures to their tortures. As if that were not enough, they even prepared public service announcements to appear nice to the public on state television," he stated.

"CHAOS, CONFUSION, AND UNHAPPINESS PREVAIL IN FAMILY HEALTH CENTERS"

SES Branch President used the following statements: "Currently, there is complete chaos, confusion, unhappiness, and hopelessness in family health centers. Health is a team effort, and the physicians in this team are struggling to provide good medical care, while nurses and other health workers are having difficulty providing good health services. The number of health workers resigning and leaving family health centers is rapidly increasing, and those considering resignation and wanting to relocate are growing. Instead of the Minister of Health's insincere statements claiming to 'love family physicians,' we call for him to see the reality, to listen to family physicians and family health workers instead of creating problems; we insistently and loudly say, hear our voices! Your health transformation project, which you have tried to implement against all our objections for 20 years, has turned health into a profit-driven commodity. Stop your project immediately."

"IMMEDIATELY RETRACT YOUR MISTAKE"

We call on the Minister of Health once again; immediately retract your mistake. Stop playing with our dignity! We will never allow you to trample on our professional honor and respect. We are the ones experiencing the problems, consult us. Instead of constantly disrupting the health environment, do your actual job. If you cannot do these, resign immediately. Since you continue to ignore our warnings, we will once again go on strike for five days at family health centers between January 6-10, 2025.
