The agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is quite busy in the upcoming week. With the proposal that will be discussed regarding regulations in the field of internal security, the penalty for unauthorized use of flashing lights in traffic will be made more deterrent. The fine will be increased 15 times to reach 96,000 Turkish lira, and in case of repeat offenses, the penalty will rise to 192,000 Turkish lira. Additionally, the upper limit of the prison sentence for those carrying, purchasing, or possessing unlicensed firearms will be raised to 4 years.

PENALTY FOR UNLICENSED WEAPONS INCREASES

With the proposal, the maximum prison sentence for those carrying, purchasing, or possessing unlicensed firearms will be increased to 4 years. Those who illegally import or sell weapon parts will face prison sentences ranging from 5 to 12 years.

With the regulation, those carrying or possessing blank-firing guns that have been converted into firearms may also face up to 4 years in prison. Depending on the number and nature of the weapon parts possessed, the penalty may rise to 8 years.

PENALTY FOR UNAUTHORIZED USE OF FLASHING LIGHTS WILL INCREASE 15 TIMES

The penalty for unauthorized use of flashing lights in traffic will be made deterrent with the proposal. The fine will be increased 15 times to 96,000 lira. In case of repeat offenses, the penalty will rise to 192,000 lira. Additionally, the vehicle will be banned from traffic for one month, and the driver's license will be confiscated for the same period.

BUDGET MARATHON CONTINUES IN THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

The budget work in the Parliament will continue in the new week. Throughout the week, the budgets of the Ministries of Energy and Natural Resources, Health, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Culture, and Tourism will be discussed. Ministers will present the 2025 budget proposals in the Planning and Budget Commission and answer the questions of the members of parliament. Meanwhile, it is expected that a bill containing technical regulations in the field of environment and urbanism will also be submitted to the Presidency of the Assembly in the new week.
