The Israeli army issued a new evacuation order for Lebanon's Tyre city center, asking civilians to move north of the Zahrani River. Israel claimed that the targeted buildings belong to Hezbollah. While it was reported that more than 120 airstrikes were carried out in southern Lebanon in the last 24 hours, there are concerns that the clashes may once again escalate into a full-scale war. Thousands of people in the region are preparing to migrate again.
The Israeli army announced that it will carry out new attacks on the city center of Tyre in southern Lebanon. Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee marked some buildings in red on maps published on his social media account, claiming they belong to Hezbollah.
Adraee stated that these buildings would be targeted and called on civilians in the area to "immediately evacuate your homes." The Israeli army asked residents of Tyre and its surroundings to move north of the Zahrani River.
MORE THAN 120 AIR STRIKES
According to reports in the international press, the Israeli army carried out more than 120 air strikes in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley in the last 24 hours. The British Guardian newspaper reported this was one of the heaviest bombardments in recent weeks.
Residents who spoke to the Associated Press reported hearing explosions throughout the night around Tyre, Nabatieh, and the Litani River. It was reported that the Israeli army is advancing north of the Litani line and expanding ground operations in some areas.
CEASEFIRE REACHES BREAKING POINT
While the ceasefire brokered by the US, which took effect on April 17, is being described as effectively collapsing, there are fears that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah could escalate back into a full-scale war. International reports citing Reuters and AFP stated that Israel has increased evacuation orders in recent weeks and that the bombing has spread to the city center of Tyre.
Le Monde newspaper reported that hundreds of people have been killed in Israeli attacks in recent weeks, and many towns in southern Lebanon have been largely emptied.
NETANYAHU: ATTACKS WILL INCREASE
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on May 25 that he had given instructions to increase operations against Lebanon. Netanyahu argued that they aimed to completely destroy Hezbollah's attack capability.
Hezbollah responds to Israeli attacks with rockets and drones. According to AP, the group has announced that it has carried out numerous attacks on Israeli positions in recent days.
The United Nations and human rights organizations warn that evacuation orders and bombings targeting densely populated civilian areas are deepening the humanitarian crisis.
