3 NEW APPOINTMENTS IN THE CMB

New appointments have been made to the Capital Markets Board (CMB). According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Erdoğan, Mahmut Sütcü has been appointed as the second president of the CMB. It was stated that Mutlu Akın and Elif Gülşah Gürlek have been appointed as members of the CMB.

WHO IS MAHMUT SÜTCÜ?

Mahmut Sütcü was born in 1968 in the Bafra district of Samsun province. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bafra and Amasya. He won the entrance exam for the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1986 and graduated from the Department of Finance in 1990. He passed the entrance exam held in 1991 and was appointed as an Assistant Account Expert, and by demonstrating success in the qualification exam, he was appointed as an Account Expert in 1994. He became a Chief Account Expert in 2003.

He was assigned to England for one year by the Ministry of Finance between 2002 and 2003. Between 2004 and 2005, he served as the head of the Istanbul Foreign Trade Tax Office, and concurrently, he also served as acting head of the Marmara Corporate Tax Office and the Bosphorus Corporate Tax Office. In 2005, he acted as the Regional Director of Revenues in Antalya and was appointed as the Head of the Antalya Tax Office on 16.09.2005 as a result of the restructuring of the Revenue Administration.

Mahmut Sütcü, who has also served as the Head of the Ankara Tax Office, is currently serving as the Deputy President of the Revenue Administration. He taught Tax Law to students of the Department of Finance at Akdeniz University during the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 academic years. He is married and has two children, and he speaks English.

WHO IS MUTLU AKIN?

He was born in 1977 in Mutki (Bitlis). He is the son of worker Nevzat Akın. He graduated from Bitlis Anatolian Teacher High School in 1994 and from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1998. He joined the Inspection Board on 12.11.1999. He was appointed as a Finance Inspector on 17.01.2003. Between 2007 and 2009, he was sent to the United States for foreign education and completed his master's degree in Financial Economics at Boston University.

He was appointed as the Chief Finance Inspector on 08.12.2009. Between 2010 and 2011, he served as Group President at the Revenue Administration, and between 2011 and 2013, he served as Vice President of the Tax Audit Board. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Department Head at the Revenue Administration. Since September 30, 2016, he has been serving as a member of the Capital Markets Board. He is married and has two children, and he speaks English.
