The General Directorate of Meteorology warned against a new wave of precipitation that will last until midweek. While thunderstorms are expected in 57 provinces including Istanbul, AKOM also issued a cool and rainy weather warning for Istanbul. In Kars, strong winds blew off the roofs of some houses.

The General Directorate of Meteorology warned citizens against a new wave of precipitation that will affect all of Turkey. According to the latest assessments, showers and thunderstorms expected to be effective across most of the country until midweek. In Istanbul, cool and rainy weather will become effective again from this evening.

RAINY WEATHER WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE COUNTRY

According to the 5-day weather forecast report published by the General Directorate of Meteorology, showers starting in Marmara, Aegean, and northwestern Central Anatolia over the weekend will intensify on Sunday in many western provinces, including Istanbul.

In the coming days, precipitation is expected to spread to the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia regions, and is forecast to continue intermittently until Wednesday. In the latest assessment by Meteorology, it was stated that the general weather across Turkey will be partly and very cloudy, while showers and thunderstorms are expected in Marmara, Aegean, inland parts of the Mediterranean, northwestern Central Anatolia, western Western Black Sea, Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, eastern Southeastern Anatolia, and around Adana and Hatay.

Meteorology issued a thunderstorm warning for 57 provinces, including Istanbul. Citizens were asked to be cautious against sudden temperature changes and adverse weather conditions.

The provinces expecting precipitation are listed as follows:

Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Yalova, Sakarya, Bilecik, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Izmir, Manisa, Aydın, Denizli, Uşak, Kütahya, Eskişehir, Afyonkarahisar, Burdur, Isparta, Konya, Ankara, Çankırı, Karabük, Düzce, Zonguldak, Bartın, Kastamonu, Sinop, Çorum, Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Nevşehir, Aksaray, Niğde, Kayseri, Yozgat, Amasya, Tokat, Samsun, Ordu, Giresun, Sivas, Erzincan, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, Ağrı, Iğdır, Van, Hakkari, Şırnak, Siirt, Batman, Bitlis, and Muş.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP, WIND WILL STRENGTHEN

According to Meteorology data, air temperatures will increase by 2 to 4 degrees in inland and western regions, while no significant change is expected in other areas. The wind is expected to blow lightly and occasionally moderately from southern directions in western regions and from northern directions in eastern regions, while wind speed in southwestern Marmara may reach 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.

NEW WARNING FROM AKOM FOR ISTANBUL

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) also issued a new warning for the city. In the AKOM statement, it was stated that cool and rainy weather will become effective again in Istanbul from this evening, with the following expression: "It is expected that cool and rainy weather will become effective again in our region as of this evening in Istanbul, with temperatures dropping locally below 22-20 degrees, accompanied by intermittent rain showers."

STRONG WIND BLEW OFF ROOFS IN KARS

Meanwhile, strong winds affecting the Digor district of Kars negatively impacted daily life. Due to the wind intensifying along with rain in Alem village, the roofs of some houses were blown off. It was learned that the roof of a house belonging to İsa Yümlü was completely damaged. Some houses were also damaged when flying roof parts scattered across the village. AFAD teams and the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change were dispatched to the area and started damage assessment work.
