U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Tom Barrack's role as the U.S. Special Representative for Syria has ended, adding, "Although this assignment is ending, he will continue to play an important role in both Syria and Iraq on behalf of the Trump administration."
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the term of US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack as "Special Representative for Syria" has ended.
In a statement on social media platform X, Rubio said, "Ambassador Tom Barrack played an invaluable role as our Special Representative for Syria. While this assignment is ending, he will continue to play an important role for the Trump administration in both Syria and Iraq. His expertise on the region, relationships, and understanding of the 'America First' agenda will continue to bring success on behalf of our country."
US Ambassador to Ankara Barrack was appointed by Trump as Special Representative for Syria in May of last year.
