Company plans 3 additional development phases scheduled between 2023 2025.

TotalEnergies on Monday announced the start of production from the first phase of the Mero field in the Libra block offshore Brazil.

It has a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), the company said.

The first phase will be followed by three additional development phases, with the Mero-2, Mero-3 and Mero-4 floating production, storage and offloading units, each with a production capacity of 180,000 bpd. Their start-ups are scheduled between 2023 and 2025.

"This start-up, along with the entry into Atapu and Sepia fields, will increase TotalEnergies production in the pre-salt Santos Basin by 30,000 barrels per day in the second quarter and by 60,000 barrels per day in the fourth quarter of 2022 to reach 120,000 barrels per day by end of 2022," said Patrick Pouyanne, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies.

The Mero unitized field is operated by Petrobras with a 38.6% share, in partnership with TotalEnergies with a 19.3% share.

Additionally, Shell Brasil, China's CNPC, China's CNOOC Limited, and Brazil's Pre-Sal Petroleo have a share of 19.3%, 9.65%, 9.65%, and 3.5%, respectively. -
