Tragic end for the cyclist teacher: hit by two cars in succession

In the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, teacher Serkan Kadıoğlu lost his life after being struck by two cars while riding his bicycle. Following the accident, cycling groups called for an end to cyclist deaths. Kadıoğlu's funeral will be held after the afternoon prayer.

Teacher Serkan Kadıoğlu (50), who was hit by two cars while riding his bicycle in the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, lost his life.

TWO CARS HIT IN SUCCESSION

The accident occurred in the evening hours the day before yesterday at the İskele Adyar Junction in the Burhaniye district. According to the claim, a car whose driver and license plate could not be identified hit Serkan Kadıoğlu, who was working as a social studies teacher at Akçapınar Middle School in the Ayvalık district, while he was riding his bicycle. Another car coming from behind, whose driver and license plate could not be identified, also hit Kadıoğlu, who was thrown onto the road during the accident. 

Upon the notification, health and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the region. In the examination conducted by health teams, it was determined that Kadıoğlu had died at the scene of the accident. The drivers were released after their statements.

"LET CYCLIST DEATHS COME TO AN END NOW"

After the accident, a written statement was made by the VeloAdra Cycling Group, of which Kadıoğlu was a member. The statement said, "We lost another life on the roads. We are in deep sorrow for losing our valuable member of our cycling group, Serkan Kadıoğlu, prematurely. Cycling is a means of transportation and a way of life; we want to be seen, noticed, and to live on the roads. Let cyclist deaths come to an end now. We extend our condolences to our dear friend, and patience to his grieving family and all his loved ones. May he rest in peace."

"THREE LIVES LOST IN THREE DAYS"

In a statement made by the Cycling Life Platform, attention was drawn to the recent cyclist deaths, saying, "Three lives were lost in three days. Within one week, we lost three more friends to vehicles hitting them from behind. The loss of İlyas Ulutaş, Eren Köse, and Serkan Kadıoğlu has brought deep sorrow to all of us. We extend our condolences to their families, loved ones, and the entire cycling life community."

Kadıoğlu's funeral will be held in the afternoon at the Burhaniye Kalemağa Hacı İsmail Mosque, and he will be laid to rest after the prayer.
