US President Donald Trump sparked global concerns about a major conflict with provocative maps and images shared on his social media account. Trump shared a map showing Iranian territory completely covered with the US flag and labeled "United Middle East States?", signaling a design for the region. Hours after this post, he continued his expansionist foreign policy messages by sharing a manipulated image of himself secretly watching Greenland from behind mountains with the note "Hello Greenland!"
US President Donald Trump, who actively uses his social media account for both political messages and posts that shake the global agenda, has once again placed himself at the center of world politics with a new series of posts. Trump's sharing of a Middle East map, particularly one covering Iran's borders with the US flag, has escalated the already high tensions and conflict concerns in the region to their peak.
US FLAG OVER IRAN
The Middle East map shared by Trump featured the question "United States of the Middle East?" The most striking element of the map was that Iranian territory was completely covered with the American flag.
While the map included names of countries such as Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, the omission of critical regional countries like Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) did not escape the notice of international analysts and media. This situation reignited debates over whether Trump was conveying a new design message for the region.
GREENLAND REFERENCE RETURNS
Trump, who stirred the world with the Iran map, served another striking image just hours later. In a photoshopped photo shared with the title "Hello, Greenland!" Trump was depicted as a giant figure secretly watching the island from behind Greenland's colorful houses and snowy mountains.
Trump, who was previously known for his statements about wanting to buy Greenland and who also shared similar images for Venezuela, has made these "expansionist" and provocative posts a subject of humor on social media, as well as being interpreted as a reflection of Washington's aggressive foreign policy goals.
Regional experts warn that Trump's moves could particularly trigger a new risk of conflict in the Middle East.
