Trump's first response to Iran's 14-point peace proposal

US President Donald Trump said he would examine Iran's 14-point peace plan but did not find it acceptable. The proposal, conveyed by Tehran through Pakistan, included ending the war on all fronts, a solution within 30 days, withdrawal of US forces from the region, lifting sanctions, and releasing frozen assets. While Iran stated that the plan aims for lasting peace, it sent the message that "the ball is in the US's court."

US President Donald Trump announced that he will review the new peace plan submitted by Iran to the United States, but stated that he does not believe the offer is acceptable. The Iranian press reported that the Tehran administration has given a comprehensive 14-point response to the US proposal.

TRUMP: THEY HAVE NOT PAID ENOUGH

Trump stated in a post on Truth Social that he will evaluate the plan sent by Iran shortly. However, the US President clearly expressed his skepticism towards Tehran's offer. Trump said, "I will soon review the plan Iran has newly sent us, but I cannot imagine it will be acceptable, because they have not yet paid a large enough price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the last 47 years."

IRAN'S 14-POINT RESPONSE TO THE US

Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with Iranian state media, reported that Tehran has submitted a 14-point response to the US proposal. It was stated that Iran's prepared offer was conveyed through a Pakistani intermediary.

According to Tasnim, Iran's proposal envisions not just a temporary ceasefire but "an end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon." The Tehran administration argues that diplomatic initiatives should focus on completely ending the war, not merely freezing the conflicts.

US REQUESTED A 2-MONTH CEASEFIRE, IRAN DEMANDED A 30-DAY RESOLUTION

According to the report, the US side proposed a two-month ceasefire. However, Tehran stated that the issues should be resolved within 30 days. The Iranian side does not see extending the ceasefire as sufficient on its own. The Tehran administration emphasizes that the priority of diplomatic efforts should be "ending the war."

IRAN'S CONDITIONS: ASSURANCE, WITHDRAWAL, LIFTING OF SANCTIONS

Iran's 14-point response came after the US's previously submitted nine-point proposal. According to Tasnim, the document covers many critical topics. The proposal demands guarantees against military aggression towards Iran. Additionally, the withdrawal of US military forces from the region surrounding Iran is among the key articles of the proposal.

Tehran's demands do not stop there. Iran conditions the release of its frozen assets, the lifting of sanctions, and the establishment of "a new mechanism" for the Strait of Hormuz.

PROPOSAL FOR A NEW MECHANISM FOR THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

One of the prominent topics in Iran's proposal was the Strait of Hormuz. A new regulatory mechanism was proposed for the strait, which is critically important for global energy trade. With this topic, the Tehran administration brought up the creation of a new framework concerning regional security, maritime transport, and energy flow.

IRAN: THE GOAL IS PERMANENT PEACE

Iranian state television IRIB aired statements by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi. Gharibabadi said that the proposal submitted by Iran aims to "permanently end" the conflict.

Gharibabadi stated, "The ball is now in the United States' court. They will either choose the path of diplomacy or continue the confrontational approach."

DIPLOMACY OR CONFLICT?

Although Iran's 14-point response indicates that diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran continue, Trump's statements suggested the process will not progress smoothly. On one side, Iran argues it seeks a comprehensive agreement aimed at ending the war on all fronts; on the other side, Trump states he believes the offer is not acceptable due to Tehran's past actions. The official response of the US to Iran's 14-point plan will determine the future direction of the process.
