U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his social media account that he has terminated the agreements signed between the U.S. and Venezuela during the Biden administration.
"WE ARE ENDING THE PRIVILEGES"
Trump stated, "We are ending the privileges that Fake Joe Biden gave to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro regarding the oil agreement dated November 26, 2022, and the elections that were not held by the Maduro regime."
MADURO: ECONOMIC WAR
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has long criticized the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and other countries harshly. He describes these sanctions as an "economic war" aimed at weakening Venezuela economically and politically.
The then U.S. administration had signed a waiver agreement on November 26, 2022, which eased sanctions on the sale of Venezuelan oil.
PRISONER EXCHANGE ALSO TERMINATED
U.S. President Trump also announced that he has terminated the exchange agreement signed in 2023 regarding the prisoner exchange between the two countries.
