Trump will continue to carry out death penalties.

25.12.2024 06:40

The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, criticized President Joe Biden's decision to commute the sentences of 37 inmates who were sentenced to death to life imprisonment. Trump stated that he would continue to apply the death penalty with determination.

The new president of the USA, Trump, reacted to Biden's decision to commute the sentences of some death row inmates. In a statement made on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that Biden's decision to convert the sentences of 37 inmates on death row to life imprisonment is unacceptable, arguing that it is also disrespectful to the families of the victims.

"THIS IS AN SENSELESS DECISION"

Trump said, "Joe Biden has commuted the death sentences of the 37 worst murderers in our country. When you hear about the crimes each of them committed, you won't believe how he made this decision. This is a senseless decision. The relatives and friends of the victims are even more affected. They can't believe this is happening." Trump stated that once he takes office, he will resolutely continue federal death penalty practices.

BIDEN HAD COMMUTED THE DEATH SENTENCES OF 37 INMATES TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT

In his statement the other day, President Biden commuted the sentences of 37 out of 40 federal inmates awaiting the death penalty to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Biden emphasized that he is against the application of death penalties, stating, "My conscience does not allow a new administration to restart the death penalties that I have halted."

Biden, who declared that he is against the death penalties for federal inmates, had announced a moratorium in 2021 to temporarily halt these sentences. Donald Trump had stated during his campaign that drug traffickers and human traffickers should receive the death penalty.
