The "We Are in Trouble, We Cannot Make Ends Meet" rally organized by the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş) was held at Ankara Anadolu (Tandoğan) Square. The event was supported by CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer, CHP Ankara Deputy Gamze Taşçıer, EMEK Party Istanbul Deputy İskender Bayhan, Gaziantep Deputy Sevda Karaca, EMEK Party General President Seyit Arslan, and Democrat Party Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt. "WE HAVE NO PEACE AT WORKPLACES OR AT HOME"Stating that "We have no peace at workplaces or at home. In these workplaces, you cannot make ends meet even for a week, let alone a month," Atalay said; "In this country, there are retirees, subcontracted workers, and victims of internships. Those who govern this country will solve their problems, the Parliament will solve them. Women in this country should be able to walk freely in the streets, and femicides should come to an end. Agricultural workers are losing their lives on tractors. This is also our problem. We are now expecting solutions from the government against all these issues, not just answers. This country has suffered from privatization, but they continue to privatize everything." MINIMUM WAGE STATEMENTIn the coming days, minimum wage negotiations will begin. We will have four workers there. We will comply with whatever they say. We will strictly adhere to whatever decision they make. When we organize, they put us out the door. Enact a law that is in favor of the workers. Court cases take 7 years, and in between, there are no workers left, nor unions. We are calling out to the government and those who govern us: do not leave us in the hands of heartless employers. "HEAR US, DO NOT DISREGARD US, YOU WILL PAY THE PRICE TOMORROW"Every day at least 5 workers lose their lives. We need to put an end to workplace accidents immediately. Recently, there have been extraordinarily bad situations in the country. There are those who kill children and those who slaughter horses and feed them to us. Urgent steps must be taken regarding this. Do not go to these restaurants, boycott them. We have been in the streets for months, in workplaces for months, and we are here today. Hear us, do not disregard us, you will pay the price for this tomorrow. Dismissals continue. Workers are being subjected to mobbing. Is there no word from those who govern the country regarding this? Find a solution for us, not for the bosses. REACTION TO THE GOVERNMENT: WE ARE NOT YOUR VOTING MACHINE, BE CAREFULA group of deputy chairpersons comes out and says, 'there is no loss for the worker.' What kind of mental block is this? Next week, we have prepared a 70-page document for the Parliament and all NGOs, and we will say, 'Change this unjust tax system.' We will continue to fight until they correct it. Mehmet Şimşek's world is different, my world is different; my world is here. From this area, I am once again calling out to the government and those who govern the country. Do not disregard us. We are 60% of this country. We are not your voting machine. Be careful. We are not obliged to go to the polls and vote for you every time. Be cautious and listen to the voice of this area. Tomorrow you will be late; you have no right to belittle us just to reduce inflation." WORKERS BOOED ATALAY: WE DO NOT WANT A YELLOW UNIONDuring the "We Are in Trouble, We Cannot Make Ends Meet" rally organized by Türk-İş, some workers booed Türk-İş General President Ergun Atalay while he was speaking. It was seen that the workers held a banner saying, "We do not want a yellow union." After Atalay was booed, some workers also chanted, "Here is the President, here is the union."
