Egyptian Foreign Minister Bedr Abdulati discussed regional tensions and Iran-U.S. negotiations in meetings with his Turkish, Omani, and Pakistani counterparts. The parties emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue are the only way to reduce tensions and achieve a lasting solution. Meanwhile, while previous meetings yielded no results, uncertainty continues regarding the second round of negotiations.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Bedr Abdulati conducted intense phone traffic regarding the increasing tensions in the region and diplomatic processes. According to a written statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdulati held separate phone conversations with Oman's Foreign Minister Bedr al-Busaidi, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

AGENDA TO DECREASE TENSION

The discussions focused on regional developments and efforts to reduce the rising tension. The parties also exchanged views on the ongoing negotiation process between Iran and the USA, emphasizing the importance of coordination for the success of diplomatic contacts.

MESSAGE OF “DIPLOMACY IS THE ONLY WAY”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulati emphasized that the negotiations are critical for reaching a concrete agreement that will reduce tensions and end a potential war. The ministers participating in the talks underscored that dialogue and diplomatic means are the only options for resolving disputes.

UNCERTAINTY CONTINUES IN NEGOTIATIONS

On the other hand, in the process that began with the attacks on Iran by the USA and Israel on February 28, a temporary ceasefire was achieved on April 8, while the permanent ceasefire talks held in Pakistan on April 11 lasted about 21 hours but ended without results.

Pakistani sources announced that two planes carrying the advance delegation from Washington for the second round of negotiations between the USA and Iran landed in Islamabad on April 19. However, Iranian media reported that Tehran might not participate in the new round of negotiations if the USA continues its naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Bekayi also stated that there is no clear plan yet for the second round of talks.
