Turkey Fm Talks To Released French Journalists

19.04.2014 20:32

Four kidnapped French journalists brought to Turkey following their release 10 months after abduction in Syria.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has talked to four French journalists by phone to "share their happiness" following their release after 10 months of captivity in Syria.

The conversation came after the kidnapped reporters were brought to Turkey from Syria on Saturday.

Edouard Elias, 22, Didier Francois, 54, Pierre Torres, 29, and Nicolas Henin, 38 had earlier been discovered on the Turkish border with their hands bound and eyes blindfolded.

Davutoglu told the journalists that he was very happy that they were free and invited them to Turkey's southern resort town of Antalya for a holiday, said diplomatic sources.

One of the French journalists said he was very pleased with Turkish hospitality they had received and he would never forget the Turkish soldiers who helped them and offered them Turkish tea and chocolate.

Davutoglu also talked to his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, who thanked him for the Turkish authorities' cooperation.

The French journalists are expected to soon leave for France. - Ankara
