Turkey: Ruling Party Expects NATO Support Against Terror

05.12.2019 23:56

Turkey wants NATO to see terror groups for what they are, says ruling party acting chair.

The deputy chairman of Turkey's ruling party on Thursday said that he expected NATO to back Turkey in its fight against PYD/YPG, Daesh and Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).

In an interview aired on public broadcaster TRT, Numan Kurtulmus of the Justice and Development (AK) Party said Turkey has been making efforts so that NATO can see these terrorist organizations for what they are.

He called out NATO for having a soft corner for PYD/YPG and FETO terrorist organizations, who have the blood of hundreds of Turkish citizens on their hands.

Kurtulmus slammed the West's inefficient fight against Daesh/ISIS, praising Turkey's efforts against the terrorist organization.

Turkey has long argued that PYD/YPG are offshoots of the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- and should not be treated as allies.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.

FETO and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen organized the defeated coup of July 15, 2016 in Turkey which martyred 251 people and left nearly 2,200 injured. -
