Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up At Wednesday's Close

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,413.80 points on Wednesday, up 0.35% from the previous close.

After starting the day at 1,411.90 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 4.99 points from Tuesday's close of 1,408.81 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,411.90 points, while its daily high was 1,422.34 points.

The total market value of BIST 100 was almost 1.07 trillion Turkish liras ($128 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 14.26 billion Turkish liras ($1.69 billion).

While 65 stocks on the index rose, 30 fell, and five remained flat compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and another private lender Akbank.

Tractor producer Turk Traktor was the best performer of the day with its shares up 4.74%. Stocks of automotive manufacturer Karsan did the worst, falling 2.21%.

One ounce of gold was traded for $1,813.15 by market close, up from $1,809.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $70.50 per barrel as of 6.55 p.m. local time (1555GMT).
